Tammy B. Retalic, DNP, MS, RN, is the Hebrew SeniorLife chief nursing officer and the vice president of patient care services for Hebrew Rehabilitation Center, where she manages a staff of 1,000 over a continuum of long-term chronic care and rehabilitation services on the Boston and Dedham campuses. She has over 25 years of operational and leadership experience in academic and community-based hospitals, post-acute care services, and education and training. She is the recipient of the 2020 Elaine Sherman Award by the Organization of Nurse Leaders of MA, NH, RI, CT, & VT (ONL) and the 2019 McKnight’s Women of Distinction award. In 2022, she received the Doctor of Nursing Practice Excellence award from Regis College.
Dr. Retalic is the co-chair of the steering committee for The Senior Quality Leap Initiative (SQLI), an international community of practice for long-term care quality. She presents nationally on workforce issues and is an active participant on statewide initiatives such as the Massachusetts Nursing Collaborative and ONL workforce task force. She has participated as a member on several professional committees such as the Massachusetts Clinical Advisory Council and has recently served as an appointed ONL board member.
Dr. Retalic is an accomplished speaker in the areas of leadership, clinical quality, employee engagement, and workforce development. She has published in the areas of innovation, clinical quality, and performance improvement. In partnership with various external partners, she has secured over $1 million dollars in grant funding to support innovative workforce and educational initiatives.
Dr. Retalic holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree from Regis College, a Master of Science degree in Nursing from Boston College, and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Vermont. She is a member for the Organizations of Nurse Leaders for MA, RI, NH, and VT and continues to be an active participant for various workforce and employee engagement initiatives both nationally and state wide.
